Doula Services in Austin, Texas

Postpartum Doula Service...

The time when baby is first brought home is a time of adjustment for the family. This is even more the case with multiples. Whether first baby or not, it is a time of getting to know each other. Often it is also a time of being overwhelmed and unsure of what to do or how to do it. A postpartum Doula can help you and your family through this time.

Ways a Postpartum Doula can help:

-Assistance with the transition into motherhood/being a family

-Emotional support

-Breastfeeding support

-Teach/model newborn care

-Household tasks/light housekeeping

-Help with sibling transitions into being an older brother or sister

-Be there to "MOTHER" the mother

-Accompany mom on outings such as to doctors’ offices, etc.

-Run errands for the family such as to the grocery store or pharmacy

-Provide lending library of books on infant care, postpartum depression, breastfeeding, etc

-Act as a resource for community services

-Preparation of meals

Things a Postpartum Doula does not do...

-A postpartum doula does not provide medical advice.

-A postpartum doula does not assess the mother or infants health.

-A postpartum doula does not tell the mother what she should do.

-A postpartum doula does not replace the father or family, but instead works alongside these people.

-A postpartum doula does not act as a maid or nanny (even though she assists in these areas they are not her primary job).

-A postpartum doula does not do 100% of the care of the baby, but instead assists the mother in caring for and learning about her new baby.

How My Services Work:

Initially we need to determine my availability around your due date, then we can schedule a time to meet. This first consultation will be

free of charge, and in no way obligates you to commit to my services. This meeting serves as an opportunity for us to determine how I can bestsupport your household after the birth of your baby. With this goal in mind, I prefer to meet all members of the household, as well as receive a tour of your home. The tour allows me to familiarize myself with where everything is before your baby arrives.

This meeting also provides an opportunity for us to sign a contract agreeing to how long you would like my services. Upon signing the contract you will also pay a small deposit. The contract also guarantees your spot on my schedule. After the contract is signed, you may contact me through e-mail or by phone to answer any non-medical questions regarding postpartum care.

My goal is to give you as much support as possible, and that process can frequently begin prior to your baby's arrival. The contract deposit is non-refundable unless I am unable to fulfill my end of the contract, in which case you would
receive a full refund. Since babies rarely follow our time lines for arrival, it is important that you contact me as soon as is feasible after the baby is born. This will ensure my first day at your home occurs in a smooth and timely manner. I look forward to meeting you and helping you after your birth/adoption!
